Fluttering Butterflies...

Hello everyone, Anne here again!

Today is my 4th and final project as Lynnda's Guest.  It has been a real pleasure
and privilege to use Lynnda's wonderful stamps and fabulous inks - thank you so
much for having me here Lynnda!

This week I wanted to show how versatile Lynnda's Colour Chemistry inks are and
I used the bottled ink to colour everything from the base card to the butterflies
and roses.  I made two cards using Karen Burniston's original accordion die by Sizzix.

This is two cards side by side, I wanted to show how the butterflies appear to be flying,
by adding a layer of acetate.

I started by cutting four of the above shapes in card and two in acetate for each card.

I joined two of the shapes for the front and stamped onto the acetate middle layer using
the CC Ink Pad in Slate Grey and applied clear embossing powder. The butterflies
and roses were coloured and fussy cut.

Each of the two card layers were dry embossed and then coloured with CC inks
which I added to a spritzer bottle but you could equally paint the inks on.

For the darker card I spritzed the base card with the yummy Simply Chocolate CC ink
and I added a card based sentiment panel - coloured in the absolutely fabulous
Vintage Sepia ink, my new favourite, it is perfect for 'ageing' elements.

Apologies, the acetate makes it hard to get a decent photo.

I just love the effect it adds by giving the impression of the butterflies
 fluttering away.

Medium Sunflower and something extra

Hello Everyone, Anne here again.

Thank you so much for the lovely comments you left on my second project for Lynnda last Friday.

This week I wanted to experiment with Lynnda's wonderful Colour Chemistry inks to see how they work with other mediums.  I made another card using some brown toned cardstock.

As you can see, I used Lynnda's medium sunflower but I also used the Colour Chemistry ink in Simply Chocolate to colour some white texture paste that I had in my stash (nothing expensive, just some that came from Lidl).
I put some of the white paste into a plastic cup and added some of the Simply Chocolate ink (ratio approximately 10 parts paste, one part ink).  I was careful to mix enough to spread across the whole of my stencil.  I cleaned my stencil in cold water immediately after using it.
The paste dried to a wonderful milk chocolate colour.  If I had wanted a darker colour I could have put the stencil back over the dry paste and used a brush to apply more ink, but I was happy with the result I achieved with the coloured paste alone.
While the paste was drying I moved on to the sunflower.  I coloured it with Citrus Yellow Colour Chemistry ink and then added some 'shading' with Pumpkin Pie.  Once coloured I watered down some Simply Chocolate and used it to create a shadow around the whole flower.

The centre was coloured with Simply Chocolate and then I added seed beads for dimension.  I put some Simply Chocolate onto my craft mat, dipped a thin paint brush into the paint and added a few splats around the edges of the sunflower.
I stamped Lynnda's lovely new sentiment stamp onto some co-ordinating cardstock, distressed the edges and added it to the card.
The finished card once again.

Triple Butterfly and Spray Ink

Hello again, Anne here!  I just wanted to say a huge thank you
to everyone who called here last week, your comments are all very much appreciated.

This week, for my second project I used Lynnda's stunning triple butterfly and I used
the Colour Chemistry Inks to create sprayed backgrounds.

The finished card size is 7" x 7".

I started off by spraying some large pieces of card with French Wine and Citrus Lime
inks which I had placed into a spray bottle.  I just gently sprayed as the colours are
very concentrated and a little goes a long way!  I used an old pizza box as a
'spray booth' to avoid spraying the whole of my work area. I stamped one piece
with the beautiful 'Without Change' stamp, using a French Wine Colour
Chemistry Pigment Ink pad.  I covered it with a clear embossing powder and heat
set it.  I added a little Citrus Lime to a piece of felt and edged each of the
three coloured  squares (I am not a fan of white edges!) and then layered
them on to the base mat,

You have probably guessed by now, but I love colouring up ribbon to match my projects
and I spritzed this piece with the gorgeous French Wine Ink in the spritzer bottle
I used earlier.  I scrunched it up and heat dried it.  You don't have to scrunch,
it is just my preferred method.

A close up of the finished ribbon and those lovely words.  Lynnda's stamps work
perfectly every time...

I coloured some more card with a wash of the inks and stamped the gorgeous Triple Butterfly several times on each, in Slate Grey and then fussy cut the three sections individually and then layered them up to give lots of dimension.  Yes, I did cut the antennae out too!

Another view of the finished card.

Small Sunflower

Hello, my name is Anne (or Redanne as I am know in blogland)!
I am thrilled to be here today and for the next three Fridays, as Lynnda's guest.

I have loved every minute of using Lynnda's wonderful stamps and inks and I would like to say a huge thank you to Lynnda for asking me to be guest designer.

For my first project I have used the small sunflower stamp to create a stepped image card:

I love this style of card and it is so easy to do.
Cut six pieces of card, three in a light colour and three in a dark colour.  The 5.1/2" x 8.1/2" dark card has been folded in half in the above photo and this makes your base card.  I used brown and cream card for my finished card.
Layer up the three light pieces of card, as evenly as possible.  I usually hold them with some low tack tape so they do not go out of line.  Using Colour Chemistry Pigment Ink in Slate Grey and the small stamp, stamp randomly over the card.  It gives a much better finished impression if you stamp over all three layers.  Don't worry if there are any gaps in your stamping, they will get covered up.
A view of my finished stamped layers.  It takes a bit of practice and it works much better if you use card that is not too thick.
To create impact I just coloured one of the sunflowers, using Citrus Yellow, Pumpkin Pie and Simply Chocolate Colour Chemistry Ink in a Bottle, using a small paint brush - I just love the intensity of the colours when they are applied undiluted and they are permanent too!
I coloured some cream ribbon with Citrus Yellow and Pumpkin Pie inks, they colour ribbon beautifully and the colours are gorgeous!  I used my heat tool to dry the ribbon, which I scrunched up.  You will get very inky fingers at this stage, but I think that is half the fun!
To create more impact I added some brown seed beads to the centre of the sunflower.
Mat and layer the elements and you can now see how any 'missed' areas of stamping are covered up. I love the illusion that this design of card creates.
Here's the finished card again.  I attached the ribbon and bow and I also added a charm.  You could add a sentiment, but I wanted the sunflower and ribbon to take centre stage on my card.

And the winner is.....

Well I hope you enjoyed the One Stamp project, here is a quick reminder of some of the projects.

We have been using this sunflower stamp design for many years and it has always been a favourite. I ma sure we will be seeing more of it in the future too. If you have sunflower stamp projects you can post them in the album in the Facebook group.

The winner for comments is TRACEY. Tracey managed a lot of comments both on this blog and on Elaine's blog so she had lots of chances to win xxx

Stampbord wall hanger with Sunflower Stamp

Inspired by Kath Stewart's project on the blog a few weeks ago I wanted to make a walling hanging with some stampbord. This is a project from the One stamp challenge we did back in June, It took me till today to get the final photos. I will let you into a little secret.... I still haven't stuck the stampbord on to the ribbon.... Think I will wait until it is ready to go on the wall so I can optimise the spacing.

When I first discovered stampbord that graduated colour in the background would have taken some time to produce, I would use 3 or 4 ink pads and build the colour in layers. I did get quite good at this and was often asked to demo this technique. But now with the triple colour ink pads it is so much easier, I tried to video the technique this time but we had lots of technical issue, so maybe that will have to be something to share with you in the future.

So let me just tell you I used 3 ATC stampbord, two ink pads and two stamps.
I used the triple sunshine yellows ink pad to create the background. I simple tapped the ink pad around  the edge of the stampbord. YES the ink pad is applied directly to the stampbord, no special applicators. Once I was happy with the background colour I heat set it using my heat tool.

Then I stamped the word stamp onto one ATC using Sienna Pigment ink  and Pearl Gold embossing powder to highlight the words.
With all three ATCs lined up, the sunflowers are stamped with the small sunflower again using the sienna ink pad. I used masking to create the cluster,
Again I heat set this ink from these.

I added the sunshine lines with a scratch tool into the negative space of the design.

Tomorrow I will FINALLY draw the winner of the stamps from the ONE STAMP challenge, sorry for all the delays, but most of you know at least some of the issues going on round here. Lets just enjoy our crafting that is what I say. I hope you are enjoying your Oak House Studio stamps.
