Designing on the Block

Elaine here with a post featuring the Scroll Frame Heart set of stamps.   Rather than just being a single stamp, there are 4 different sections which you can arrange on your acrylic block to create hearts and patterns for backgrounds.  As you can see from the photos, this set is a favourite of mine and has been inked and stamped regularly over the years.

To give you an idea, I've just stamped some designs in black.  The set was originally designed to stamp hearts so arrange all 4 stamps on a block to create the large heart (on the left) or try just 3 stamps for the smaller heart (on the right).

Above you see the 3 sections on the 4 x 4 block and below I've arranged them in a group to stamp a background.

So the set does hearts and backgrounds but you can also use them to create smaller frames for sentiments:

These are just a few of the combinations - I'm sure you will think of more!!  Below is a finished card using the smaller version of the heart and a randomly stamped background.

On this A4 card I've embossed the smaller heart with Pearl Silver powder and painted with Delicious Damson Ink in a Bottle.  Round the edge I've stamped randomly in Purple Pigment Ink and then blended with Orchid Pigment Ink.   I coloured the seam binding with all the leftover ink on my mat and finished with the Evening Invitation sentiment from the Wedding Words set.

The next card uses the smaller heart embossed with Pearl Silver powder and then painted with Pearly Silver Ink in a Bottle.  The background is stamped with Valentine Pigment Ink and it's just finished with the sentiment stamp.

Sorry about the next photo being so dark - it's the gold mirri card that doesn't help.  I've just used the largest of the Scrolls gold embossed along the edge of the white card, trimmed off the excess and then backed with gold card.  Congratulations is from the Script Sentiments set and I've used the smallest Scroll stamp to just frame the word.  Not only would it make a great Wedding card but also an Anniversary card - change the colour of the embossing and background card to fit any occasion.

I hope I've given you some ideas and inspired you to look at your stamps in a different way.  All the Stamps, Pigment Ink Pads, Embossing Powders and Inks in a Bottle can be found HERE.

October's Challenge is Borders and Frames - why not give it a go and enter.  Full details are on the INKSPIRED by Oak House Studio group on facebook.

Thanks for looking!!
